Terms of Service

Bud — a personal assistant on WhatsApp
Last updated: 9 September 2026

These terms govern your use of Bud. By messaging Bud on WhatsApp, you agree to them. If you do not, please do not use the service.

1. What Bud is

Bud is a personal assistant you reach through WhatsApp. When you connect your Google account, Bud can read your calendar, manage your Google Tasks, and send email on your behalf. It is driven by an AI model that interprets what you ask and decides which actions to take.

Bud cannot read your email, and has no access to Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Photos or Contacts.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 and able to enter a binding agreement. If you use Bud for work, you confirm you are permitted to connect the Google account you connect.

3. Your account

Your WhatsApp phone number is your identity — there is no separate login. Anyone with access to your WhatsApp can therefore instruct Bud as you. Keep your phone and WhatsApp secured. Tell us immediately at support@mybud.life if you lose control of your number.

4. What Bud does on your behalf

This is the part worth reading carefully.

Bud takes real actions in your real accounts. It can send email that genuinely arrives, create and cancel meetings that genuinely notify other people, and change your task list. These actions are not simulations and often cannot be undone.

Bud is designed to confirm with you before anything consequential or hard to reverse — sending mail to someone new, or creating or cancelling a meeting with other attendees. Low-stakes, reversible things it will simply do.

You are responsible for what you ask Bud to do and for the instructions you give it. If you tell Bud to send an email, that email is from you and you are responsible for its contents. We recommend reading a confirmation before approving it.

5. AI limitations

Bud is built on large language models. You should understand what that means:

Do not rely on Bud alone for anything critical. Check that a meeting was created before treating it as booked, and read what an email says before approving it. Bud is an assistant, not a guarantee.

6. Acceptable use

You must not use Bud to:

We may suspend or terminate access for breach of this section, and email sent through Bud is subject to Google's own sending policies.

7. Availability

Bud is a young service and we offer no uptime guarantee. It depends on WhatsApp, Google and AI providers we do not control; when they fail, Bud may be slow, degraded or unavailable. We may change, suspend or discontinue features at any time. Where a change materially reduces what Bud can do, we will tell you in WhatsApp.

8. Messages Bud sends you

If you enable the morning brief or evening wrapup, Bud messages you on a schedule you choose. You can change the time or turn them off at any point by asking. Bud also replies when you message it. We do not send marketing messages.

9. Your data

How we handle your data is set out in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms. In short: Bud uses your Google data only to provide the features you can see, never for advertising, never to train AI models, and you can delete everything at any time by asking.

10. Third-party services

Using Bud also means using WhatsApp and Google, each under their own terms. We are not responsible for those services, and their availability and policies are outside our control.

11. Fees

Bud is currently free. If we introduce charges we will give clear notice before any fee applies to you, and you may stop using the service instead.

12. Intellectual property

The Bud service, name and software are ours. These terms grant you a personal, non-transferable right to use the service — nothing more. Your content, and the data in your Google account, remain yours.

13. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent the law allows, Bud is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or uninterrupted operation.

14. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, nor for lost profits, lost business, lost data, or missed meetings or communications arising from your use of Bud. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the preceding twelve months or USD 50.

Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

15. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify us against claims arising from your use of Bud in breach of these terms, including anything sent from your account.

16. Termination

You may stop at any time — ask Bud to delete your data, or block the number. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the service. On termination your data is handled as described in the Privacy Policy.

17. Changes

We may update these terms. We will change the date above, and for material changes we will notify you in WhatsApp. Continuing to use Bud after a change means you accept the updated terms.

18. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of India have exclusive jurisdiction, except where the law of your country of residence gives you rights that cannot be overridden.
